Ulrich Hagel acts as a neutral commercial mediator, conciliator and arbitrator in conflict resolution, but also as a party representative (mediation lawyer) in mediation proceedings. Clients value his entrepreneurial perspective. Ulrich Hagel worked for over 25 years as a corporate lawyer and commercial project manager for a global market leader in the rail industry, for example as Chief Compliance & Security Officer, Head of Litigation, General Counsel Office (Legal Operations) and Contracts & Commercial Management Procurement. For more than 15 years, he was Head of the Compliance Working Group of the German Railway Industry Association (VDB).

Patrick Späth, LL.M. (King’s College London)
Patrick Späth, a partner at HWCL, advises German and international companies on compliance and corporate governance issues as well as Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Regulation. He conducts internal investigations into alleged misconduct, conducts due diligence audits, and evaluates compliance management systems.
Patrick Späth represents clients in court, out of court, and before arbitration tribunals in the defense and assertion of claims related to compliance violations, alleged breaches of supply chain due diligence standards, corporate law disputes, and negotiations regarding the coverage of damage claims by D&O insurers. He has extensive experience in advising on regulatory and prosecutorial proceedings, as well as in monitoring and managing spillover risks between regulatory and civil court proceedings in Germany and abroad.

Patrick Späth is a member of the Committee for Corporate Social Responsibility and Compliance at the German Bar Association and member of the board of EBEN e.V.(Deutsches Netzwerk für Wirtschaftsethik e.V.). Michael Wiedmann worked for over 20 years in various management positions in a large German trading company, including as General Counsel, Company Secretary, Chief Representative, Group Director Public Policy and Chief Compliance Officer. He also has experience in the raw materials and automotive industries.
Michael Wiedmann is Co-Head of the Working Group on Human Rights in Companies of the German Institute for Compliance (DICO) since 2019.

At HWCL, Lou-Angelina Lauer advises companies, associations, etc. on all compliance issues, in particular on German and European due diligence legislation and the interpretation of international treaties and provides efficient and practice-oriented support for internal company implementation.
As an association lawyer and in-house counsel, she has over ten years of experience in working with ministries, the Bundestag and federal authorities as well as in providing legal advice and conceptual development of sustainability laws and their complaints procedures.
Her university studies focused on European and international law, and she also has international work experience at the United Nations and foreign chambers of commerce in New York, Nairobi and Singapore.
